The model

Open is just the first signal.

The signal model combines these signals into one thread health read. Each event is timestamped, geo-resolved, and attributed to the recipient and device.

open
Pixel + beacon fire when the message is rendered. Apple Mail prefetch is filtered out.
click
Each tracked link records which URL was clicked and how many times.
reply
Replies are detected from the open Gmail conversation and attributed to the recipient.
location & device
Each open and click resolves an approximate city and device — the sender's own self-opens are filtered out.
